Scarborough, in Yorkshire held one of the biggest fairs in Medieval England. It was a yearly trading event that attracted people from near and far. The song relates the tale of a young man instructing the listener to tell his former love to perform a series of impossible tasks. The lyrics include a refrain about the herbs parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, which carry symbolic meanings in folklore.  Scarborough Fair is one of my favorite folk melodies, and it was an absolute pleasure to record this Celtic neoclassical version with the wonderful Debra Buesking.
