Philleann

Composer/Producer

Sound Origins

Philleann is the musical moniker of composer and producer Philip Dale. It’s an artistic endeavor that gestated for 30 years before finally being born amid the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. The mellow sounds of the Irish Low Whistle and the soul stirring call of the Uilleann Pipes are Philleann’s signature instruments, but he plays a host of other folk instruments in the creation of his music.

Blending his long held love of traditional folk music, with medieval influences and modern classical elements, Philleann crafts richly melodic Celtic instrumental music that tell musical tales of lore and legend.

Celtic Inspirations

Celtic music comes in many varied forms these days, and Philleann has found a core following among a generation of fans raised on books, films and games in the fantasy genre, along with lovers of melodic-driven music. As a fan himself of Celtic folk fusion, his list of musical influences is extensive and includes the likes of such luminaries as Loreena McKennitt, Enya, Lunasa, and Mike Oldfield, to name just a few.

Philleann also draws inspiration from the world around him, such as the rich history and myths of the British Isles, where he originally hails from, as well as the awe-inspiring beauty of the Pacific Northwest, where he currently resides with his family.  But no matter the source of inspiration for his compositions, whether it be a historical figure or a fantasy realm, Philleann always aims to evoke a sense of time and place, provoke emotions, and transport the listener with melodic tales brought to life through his unique Celtic instrumental music.
